LIFE INSURANCE · PERSONAL GUIDANCE
The right conversation starts with who you want to protect, what they would need and a premium you can keep paying. We’ll compare the options in plain language.
TERM VS. WHOLE LIFE
Some families use both: term for a larger temporary need and permanent coverage for a lasting one. Your goals and budget guide the conversation.
| What to compare | Term life | Whole life |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage period | A specified term, often 10, 20 or 30 years. | Designed for lifetime coverage when required premiums are paid. |
| Premiums | Often lower initially for the same death benefit. Renewal can cost more. | Usually higher initially, with a scheduled premium structure. |
| Cash value | Generally none. | Builds policy cash value; early values may be modest. |
| A need to discuss | Income replacement, dependents or a mortgage during working years. | A lasting death benefit, final expenses or a legacy goal. |
| A key question | What happens when the term ends? Is conversion available? | Can you comfortably maintain the premium? What values are guaranteed? |

AGENT VS. BROKER
The labels can overlap. Independent agents may work with multiple insurers, too. The useful question is which companies a professional can actually offer.
